These Countries have no Military force, How they survive ?

Most countries spend millions to stronger their armed forces and show how powerful they are.
However, many countries don't feel the need to have a military force at all. Let's take a look at these countries.
1. VATICAN CITY
The walled enclave is the smallest sovereign state in the world- both in terms of size and population.
The Vatican located within Rome doesn't have a defence agreement with Italy. The Noble Guard and the Palatine Guard were established in 1970. However Swiss Guards are responsible for the protection of the Pope, while Gendarmerie Corps looks after the internal security.

2. LIECHTENSTEIN
The small European state terminates its army in 1868 due to the high cost of maintaining it. However, the country has a National Police Force. Liechtenstein maintains close ties with neighbouring states for defence cooperation.

3. MARSHALL ISLANDS
Marshall islands contain 1,150 individual islands and islets is block from having an army of its own.
However, it has a police force for internal security, its defensive needs are addressed by the U.S.

4. MAURITIUS
This island nation located in the Indian Ocean has a police force, a special mobile force and a national coast guards- latter two are considered paramilitary units, but no standing units since 1968.

This country hasn't a standing army since the 17th century when it was stopped. Although France looks after Monaco's defence- one that looks after the principality's royal family and the other after its citizens.

This central Pacific nation does not have a military but it has an informal agreement with Australia for defence corporation. World's third smallest country by area has a good police force for internal security.

The island country is responsibility security with the United States. The local police maintain law and order in the country that spreads over 179.75 sq miles or 465.55 sq km.

Saint Lucia's defence is provided by the Regional Security System. The Royal Saint Lucia Police, which was established in 1834, looks after its internal security.

The Scandinavian nation abolished its military in 1869. However, the U.S kept a military base in the country from 1951 until 2006. Iceland plus point are that they have an air defence system, a peacekeeping force and well-armed police force.

13. FEDERATED STATES OF MICRONESIA
Spread across the Western Pacific Ocean, the island nation doesn't have regular military as its security needs are taken care of by the U.S. with a free association agreement. The agreement also allows Micronesian citizens to join the U.S. military without taking up U.S. citizenship or permanent residency in the country.

This sovereign landlocked microstate doesn't have a standing military; alternatively, it has a deal with its two bordering nations- France and Spain- for safety.
